TriDef 3D Ignition includes experimental Oculus Rift support for several DirectX 9 games, it's a beta version and as such it's not fully tested.

For best results the field of view should be set manually for each game. HMD settings shouldn't need to be modified for the supported games. Other DirectX 9 games may work, DirectX 10 and 11 are not yet supported.

The beta won't work by itself, it must be installed on top of a working version of TriDef 3D or with the 14-day free trial.

Power 3D

It's a feature of TriDef 3D Ignition that provides a faster method of approximating a viewpoint shift based on the principles of image based rendering. There is a trade-off in terms of 3D image quality, which may be noticable at the edges of objects, but it gives a significant increase in frame rate.

Power 3D is currently disabled [1] for the Oculus Rift for the following reasons:
  1. The Oculus developers have suggested that Power 3D rendering won't work well with the Rift.
  2. Although similar to what is done for other 3D displays, some of the Power 3D projection system would need to be modified to support the Rift correctly. If enabled with the current setup it would 'sort of' work but the 3D would be incorrect.

Despite reason #1 DDD might still look into adding Power 3D support for the Rift, but this is currently of lower priority.

  • World Scale : adjusts the coordinate system scaling factor if the 3D separation is too strong/weak
  • Force FOV : overrides the game's FOV when it can't be modified manually
  • OSD Depth : sets the depth of on-screen elements such as menus, HUDs.
  • Output Quality : corrects chromatic aberration and includes multisampling during the warping stage
  • Head Tracking : tracks the head rotation and modify the mouse position accordingly
