Latency

In the video "Evolution of Sixense Technology: From Hydra to STEM System" with Igor Khalfin the Sixense STEM is advertised as having 9 times less latency than the Razer Hydra since the measurements are time multiplexed whereas with the STEM all the axes are read continuously.

Fact checking

Latency

Sixense announced under 10 ms latency for both STEM and the Razer Hydra in their Kickstarter campaign, but John Carmack found out that updates on the Hydra were fully computed only at 62.5 Hz (ie. 16ms latency at best) and that 30 ms of lag were added even with the SDK option turned off. So it gives around 50 ms of latency, which is quite far from what is claimed and casts some doubts about the other claimed specifications.

Software

Backward compatibility via the Sixense SDK (Windows, OS X and Linux) that also supports games and applications developed for the Razer Hydra.
