Oculus Rift

The Oculus Rift DK2 doesn't use a 7″ panel.
The distortion is corrected in software in the SDK for the Oculus Rift.
The DK2 will use aspheric lenses, just like the DK1 did.
The Oculus Rift is not limited to “Oculus games & demos”, there are several applications that allow to view 2D/3D movies, even 360° movies.

Crystal clear

Screen door effect

Claim : Because we use aspherical lenses and never waste any pixels in the full HD screen, it will be crystal clear in the headset. There’s no screen door problem.

The screen door effect doesn't have anything to do with aspheric lenses, it's related to the pixel fill factor of the display, which is often low on LCD. To minimize it an optical diffuser is needed, but then the claim of a "crystal clear" VR experience would be even more wrong.

Field of view

The field of view is 100° diagonal for the ANTVR and the DK2, but only 80° horizontal for ANTVR (60° vertical). It's 106° horizontal for the DK1.

Positional tracking

Positional tracking with an IMU is impossible, the double integration of the accelerometer data will generate drift very quickly. What is presented with the "one step" technique is not positional tracking.

Immersive VR

Claim : if the console game supports stereoscopic 3D, you can have a truly immersive virtual reality experience just like you’re in the game.

Support of existing stereo 3D games on consoles will provide wrong stereoscopic cues because you can't specify the IPD, the interaxial distance, the virtual cameras separation and the eye relief. Also stereo 3D games are not rendered in orthostereoscopy, to avoid headaches caused by the vergence-accommodation conflict. It's not possible to have a "truly immersive virtual reality experience" with existing stereo 3D games.
